april

We’re 10 days into April, and we’ve already had the last day of kindy for term 1, a big birthday picnic, and a day out in Sydney.

It’s Jolly Phonics Day!  The last day of Term 1, and the kindy kids had a ball.

‘c’ is for crazy critters.

‘j’ is for jumping castle.

‘m’ is for marshmallow mouse.

‘s’ is for snow.

‘b’ is for bubbles.

The big birthday picnic on the weekend was perfect.  It was a sunny, breezy day in the middle of this rainy weather.  We were all so happy to feel the warm sun on our faces, and we stayed out until it was almost dark.

The requested ‘swimming pool cake’ for Daiz, who turned 4.

The birthday girl.

The birthday boy.

A special birthday tea with grandma & grandpa.

And a big day of fun at the Sydney Aquarium at Darling Harbour, along with a ferry ride.  The glass tunnel was great, with sharks swimming over us.  We even found Nemo.

Best buddies.

What a cutie!!

family funday sunday #2!

We headed to Sydney again, for a family funday sunday on the train.  We visited the MCA (to see the Annie Leibovitz exhibition) then took the kids for lunch and a wander around Darling Harbour & Circular Quay.  We caught the ferry around the harbour just for fun.

The train ride with special friends {BearBear and SunBee, that is}

After the exhibition, the kids played in the spiral water fountain at circular quay

coffee @ the rocks

We spent a lovely Sunday at the Aroma Coffee Festival at The Rocks in Sydney.  CityRail has a Family Funday Sunday thing on at the moment with almost all transport at $2.50 per person for the whole day.  Kids mostly enjoyed the train ride {next time I think I need to take some toys as back up!}

orange sky morning

do do do lookin' out my back door

do do do lookin' out my back door

I opened my sleep deprived eyes (not unusual after craft night) and thought ‘Am I in Kansas yet?’ It was so windy all last night, I thought the house would relocate. Then I thought ‘Hang on, the light in my room is very orange’. And WOAH mumma, it really is orange.

After gale force wind warnings in the Hunter Valley and other areas around Australia, it’s no wonder so much dust has been stirred up. Nige rode his bike to work this morning as per usual, and when I rang him about 10 minutes ago he said he was still scraping the dust from his eyes. My throat is saying ahem ahem just from going outside to take photos. So for all you outdoorsy-type workers, shall we have a sicky and call it a Dust Day!!?? Woohoo.P9230015P9230014

another year wiser!

kids and cake...need I say more?

kids and cake...need I say more?

We all bundled up in the car and headed to Wahroonga for a picnic lunch on Saturday. It was a surprise party for my friend Kelly. As you can see, the cake was a big hit {and not just with the kids}.

There is a lovely park and kids play area at Wahroonga, two sets of swings, and a train, amongst other things. The kids really enjoyed themselves, and we thought they’d crash on the way home but when I offered to put Sesame Street on the dvd player Poppy said “that’s worth staying awake for!” I recently bought ‘Sesame Street Old School’ which is the first 5 seasons and the girls think it’s hilarious.
