The Olive Tree Markets {the sequel}

Although I went in with hesitation, it was a lovely day. The Olive Tree Markets at The Junction in Newcastle are really beautiful markets. They are handmade markets, so just about every stall is full of delights. And the food was fantastic too!

We had a tiny little shower of rain, but other than that, it was cool and clear. I met some other artists – check out grevillea designs {of which I am now the proud owner of a skirt, which deserves a blog post all to itself}.

it’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s ME!

My friend Darren loves hang gliding. He offered to take Nige and I out for a tandem fly one day – and after a few weeks of “It’s going to be windy tomorrow”, “It’s not windy enough”, “This weekend should be good”, “We’ve got other plans”, “Let’s go this afternoon”, “By the time we get there the wind will probably have died down”…we finally aligned ourselves with what Sarah termed a “honking southerly” and headed out to Merewether.
It was about 7.30am and spitting a little bit – but we hoped that it would clear by the time we got into Newcastle {which it did, for a little while}. All set up, run like hell, and off we go! It was a fantastic view, and one you don’t get to see very often, especially from that height. I’ve been in small planes, and I think a glider is much more fun, closer to the ground so you can see more.
