feliz navidad, merry christmas, joyeux noel, buon natale!

I just heard a little voice squealing to her sister from the other room “AHHHHH it’s almost Christmas, I can’t believe it” and that pretty much sums up what’s happening at our house at the moment.  I love Christmas.  Not the giving and receiving of presents so much as the general spirit of it all.  And as someone who believes fairy lights are for Every Day, it’s nice when the rest of the world complies!

A friend gave me this, which is pretty much on repeat at my house at the moment.

And of course this always makes a frequent appearance; my favourite Christmas album:

Some girlfriends and I swap ornaments each year, and here is some of the Bling from 2011…

I made Santa Hats which were so easy, and so very yummy!  Brownie base, with stawberry hats and piped whipped cream trim.  These have been doing the rounds on the internet…and I’m not sure who gets the original credit, but here you go.  They were such delightful bites of goodness that I’m going to make them again for Christmas day.

And I’ve almost finished my Christmas presents, with this cushion cover needing the final stitching together of bits {you can find this particular flower pattern here}.

I’ve got a pile of Super Hero masks and wrist cuffs to sew together for various little boys, which will be a quick job once I start.  I used the mask template on the link posted, but then added my own lightning bolts, bats and stars.  I just measured a wrist for the bands and I’ll put velcro on them.

And the girls have been wrapping and card-making.  Here is my favourite from DaisyBaby:

And of course the inside {although I probably shouldn’t be peeking yet…but she put it under the tree, and I couldn’t resist}:

I found these cute cards this year, that the receiver {or the giver, I suppose?!} can colour in.  Usborne makes them. Here are a few of the 20 cards in the set:

And one of my favourite things, is that I have been able to hang up my NYC ornaments this year:

Merry Christmas!

22 sleeps to go…

You very well might say Bah Humbug, but I love this time of year.

so that’s that then {or Where Have All the Boys Gone?}

Christmas over and almost the new year!!  I don’t often go out for NYE any more – it’s a bit hard to party till midnight with my kids.  This year we are trying to organise SOME semblance of a party at one of our homes to celebrate 2010.  Here’s a little snippet of our Christmas {seems to be mostly about the kids these days} and I’ll keep you posted about NYE!  Anyone else doing anything exciting?

For some reason, all the boys had disappeared by the time my camera found it’s way out of my bag. I think they had torn the wrapping paper off their presents and then retreated to the back yard to play in the cubby house. Oh well – maybe next year I’ll remember to get the camera out sooner.

I’ll make a big effort on Australia day, in a few weeks, to capture them all.
